5/4/2013 0 Comments Ode to Mayonaisse"Bring out the Hellman's bring out the best..." Ah the joys of mayonaisse! Rich and creamy, such a delightful addition to most sandwiches. Delightful with fresh tomatoes or on a ham and cheese, why just today I had one of my childhood favorites, peanut butter and mayonaisse. Yummm. Mayo for short, it makes a nice base for creamy salad dressings. My mother used to coat tomatoes and lettuce in a salad with mayo until you could see no color at all. It was quite yummy, but not quite a healthy salad I have to say. Of course you should never leave mayo out to long. On picnics, it can turn rather quick on a warm day. To eat mayonaisse can be a risk-taking endeavor if you are not careful. Put some horseradish and cream cheese and you have a fine dip for potato chips or crackers. I am not sure why this revery about the joys of mayonaisse. I have to say I derive a lot of pleasure from eating and mayonaisse is one of those things I just think is a marvelous invention and culinary delight. And, well, isn't it the little things that make life worth living? I say so.
